For decades, Bob Tallman has been known as “the Voice of Rodeo.”

But long before his voice became synonymous with rodeo, cattle were already part of his story.

“My family started in the cow business in Nevada back in 1903,” Bob said. “So we’ve got a little experience and a little learning. We’ve got some failures behind us, and we’ve got some triumphs that we can brag on.” More than a century later, cattle are still part of the Tallman family story.

Today, Bob and his wife, Kristen, call Poolville, Texas, home, where they operate Three T Angus Cattle Company and provide boxed beef to about 250 customers across North Texas. For Bob, it’s proof that there is always something more to build.

A Life in Agriculture

Bob has spent much of his career watching people pursue big goals in the rodeo arena. Away from it, he has continued pursuing a few of his own.

“A lot of people don’t believe in dreams, but I did, and I still do today,” Bob said.

Those dreams have taken different forms over the years, but agriculture has remained a constant. Bob grew up with the perspective that comes from generations in the cattle business. He has seen good years and difficult ones. He knows plans change, markets move and problems rarely wait for a convenient time to arrive.

That experience has also shaped what he values in the people he does business with. “You’ve got to have a place to go,” Bob said. For him, AgTexas has become one of those places.

“It’s one of the few places in the world that you can call your banker on a Sunday afternoon if you’ve got a problem,” he said, “and on Monday have it solved by the time they get in the office and you get up and start your work.”

A Lender Who Knows Agriculture

After a lifetime around cattle, Bob knows there is a difference between understanding the numbers behind an agricultural operation and understanding how agriculture actually works. Whether the conversation involves land, feed, seed, fertilizer or another part of an operation, he believes experience matters.

“You’re gonna talk to somebody that has been in that business or raised in that business,” Bob said of AgTexas.

He’s also quick to point out that agriculture is broad. Someone raised on a ranch may bring a different perspective than someone raised on a farm, and both bring knowledge that can be useful when producers are making decisions. “Having a wide variety of people to talk to that have the basic knowledge of agriculture, you’re in the right spot,” Bob said.

For someone who has spent his life in the industry, that shared understanding matters.

Still Building

Bob’s family entered the cattle business more than 120 years ago. Since then, there have been failures, triumphs and plenty of lessons learned in between. But experience hasn’t made Bob any less interested in what comes next. Today, that includes continuing to grow Three T Angus Cattle Company, serving the customers who buy their beef and building a life with Kristen on their place in Poolville.

His career may have made his voice recognizable far beyond the ranch gate, but agriculture remains the world he knows best. After all these years, Bob Tallman still believes in the value of having an idea, putting in the work and seeing where it can go.
