According to Matt Gfeller, he, his wife, Mandi, and his parents, Ronald & Kay, own and operate “a little feedyard operation” and farm (primarily wheat) east and west of the little town of Dimmitt, located in the Texas Panhandle.  In actuality, the “little operation” Matt is referring to is known as Heartland Livestock Company and is a 10,000 head capacity commercial facility.

Matt speaks highly of AgTexas and the relationships he has built with Mark Kleman, his loan officer, and Tami Griffitt, loan administrator.  He appreciates how knowledgeable Mark and Tami are and that they understand his operation which is of utmost importance with regard to agriculture lending.  With a smile Matt says, “they keep me in money which is the key to this whole organization”.

Matt and Mandi have two kids, he believes that raising them in the farming and ranching lifestyle has instilled in them a solid work ethic which will be a huge advantage to them regardless of what their futures hold.

In 2018, the couple opened the Walking G Guesthouse & Cow Palace, a four-room, full-service bed and breakfast.  The Walking G Guesthouse is located in “downtown” Dimmitt inside a historic building.  Originally built in 1929, the building previously served the community as both a bank and a hospital.  In all their “spare time” the Gfellers renovated one of the town’s treasures to provide guests with small-town hospitality, comfortable lodging, and the sense of community they love so much.

Matt is excited that AgTexas is merging the Dimmitt and Friona locations into one newly built office in Hereford, TX.  He feels the move will be better for the communities, offering a more centralized banking experience.  Plus, he’s not disappointed about having more restaurant choices for lunch when he needs to visit Mark and Tami.
