Taking Root with Ryan Schronk

At AgTexas, we believe education is one of the most valuable tools a producer can have—and investing in the next generation of agriculture is one of the most important things we do.

After graduating from Texas A&M University in 2023, Ryan Schronk returned home to Hill County to join his family’s farming operation. With a deep respect for the legacy built before him, Ryan stepped into his role with a clear sense of purpose: to continue growing not only the operation, but also his knowledge and impact within agriculture.

After seeing the role his grandfather played in serving AgTexas in a leadership capacity, Ryan felt called to step up when he was asked to join the Young AgLeaders shortly after returning to the family farm. As a young farmer, he believed that it’s important to serve, to build meaningful connections and to see agriculture from every angle.

Ryans commitment to growth led him to the AgTexas Taking Root Program—a two-tiered initiative designed specifically for Young, Beginning, and Small (YBS) farmers and ranchers. The program provides participants with access to valuable educational resources, business tools, and the opportunity to qualify for grant funding to strengthen their operations.

In December 2025, Ryan successfully completed the Taking Root Program, earning a $10,000 grant to invest back into his operation—an achievement that reflects both his dedication and forward-thinking approach to agriculture.

Through the program, Ryan said he gained practical insights into budgeting, business planning and goal setting — tools that will help position his operation for continued success. “It has expanded my knowledge and broadened my perspective while giving me a deeper look into AgTexas,” Ryan said.

“A lot of people don’t understand agriculture. They don’t understand the hard times we go through financially. To know that AgTexas understands agriculture, and to know that they understand what we go through in the hard times, gives you piece of mind and comfort at night, knowing that they are going to stick with you.”

Ryan’s story is a powerful example of what happens when education, opportunity, and a passion for agriculture come together. Congratulations, Ryan, on completing the Taking Root Program and earning the $10,000 grant—we’re excited to see what’s ahead.
